3D2N GETAWAY TO THE CANOPI!
It was Thye’s birthday and I was cracking my head on what to gift him… He is someone who has almost everything and does not want anything. In the end, I decided to surprise him with a birthday trip!
As we only have the weekends to play with + additional 1 day leave, I was hunting for a nice 3D2N location that we can head to and… I found CANOPI!
Infact, I’ve recommended a few of my friends there(yes even before I get to go) and they love it, so I decided to give it a try too!
Before we start, here are some tips:
- Bring your own snacks, cup noodles etc as the available food there are only from the resort’s cafes(fyi, they have no room service)
- If you are thinking of trying the BBQ outside your tent, go for the basic package and bring your own food like hotdog, crabmeat etc if you can. Else be ready to spend $$$ to top up the food. You can grab them from Vivo’s giant before the trip.
- Bring your own drinks too if you dont want to spend freely in the resort.
Yesss passed him this surprise the night right before the trip! Hehe.
There are actually different rooms and packages which you can find all details here: https://thecanopi.com/
As its a birthday celebration, I’ve decided to go for the higher end which is the NEW Glamping Tent (launched only this year) that comes with a free scooter throughout our stay, free 1-hr couple massage, free lagoon ride and an indoor jacuzzi bathtub!!! Breakfast included for all tents.
In my honest opinion, the normal tents are really good enough for a short yet affordable getaway. You will just need to rent your own scooter. Prices and activities are all stated in the website.
The only difference between the rest of the tents and the Glamping tent is just this seriously.
Day 01
First day was spent exploring around the entire area and booking activities etc(best to pre-book beforehand else it may get full). Note that all these activities are additional costs.
Here are the list of activities we had booked and paid:
- Jungle ATV (which sadly we din get to play cause of wet weather and we postponed twice during the stay)
- Kampong boat to Kelong seafood dinner(this is not cheap at all but we didnt want to dine in the resort so we decided to give it a try)
- Fireworks
- Slides (quite fun, see photo later in the post)
- BBQ right outside our tent
There are only 2 places to dine in the entire resort. One is near the lobby which is also the location where we will be having our breakfast and another are a few food stalls near the water activities area..
This is the slide which I was talking about. Its fun! But do becareful cause I kind of sprained my neck due to the high impact.
Took the ferry out at night for the seafood dinner. If your package does not include the massage, fret not. There is a massage place in the resort and although its slightly more ex than the one we went to, its still pretty affordable as compared to SG and the ambience is quite good too.
For us, we rode the scooter out to the massage place on the 2nd day cause its quite near the resort and we kind of remembered the route our driver took us. NOT ADVISABLE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE ROUTE. Its just slightly cheaper than the resort, the ambience is so-so only too. We tried both.
The sampan is really these kind which is pretty scary cause it feels like the water will seep in anytime but its quite an experience! Plus, you can catch the stars in the sky during the ride too!
For the dinner, I would say if you are heading in a big group, then you can head to try the Kelong cause it wont be that ex splitting the cost!
Day 2
The weather wasnt really co-operating as I think its the monsoon season so we lazed around the Crystal Lagoon (famous place in the resort) whenever the rain stop.
Wanted to do the land activities today but the Jungle ATV was cancelled due to the rain. Heard its super fun! 🙁
We also took the free lagoon ride but honestly, its pretty dumb. Just a slow boat around the entire lagoon which we already recce the place with our scooter already. I think Thye loves the scooter the most!
The good thing was that the weather cleared up later in the night and it was something I am really looking forward to…. BBQ RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR TENT!!! This again, wasnt really cheap it costed about SGD80(?) but it was the experience instead of just dining at the cafe.. Oh and I think this is only available during the weekends too!
Food were quite good, the only bad thing was its pretty dark so we had a hard time checking if the food were thoroughly cooked LOL!
Day 03 was having the free breakfast again and roaming around the resort before its check-out time. For most people, 2D1N is actually enough to try everything in Canopi but if you are someone who do not like to rush, then I will recommend 3D2N for a more relaxing trip.
No itinerary for this trip cause its pretty straightforward and everything is in the resort. If you really want me to compare, I will prefer this place than Montigo (same price if you are booking the normal tents) as there are more activities to do in the resort. For Montigo, its just the huge “bungalow” with personal pool and thats all.
Also, if you are going in a group, there are actually cluster tents for the normal tent so the tents are actually in a circle and you all can BBQ and gather in the middle! Overall the place is quite cool and I will recommend it for a short weekend getaway!
